Jim Mellor

Jim Mellor is Chief Financial Officer of the YMCA of the USA, a position he has held since November of 2006. Jim came to the organization's Chicago national headquarters from the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta, where he served for more than 10 years as Vice President of Finance/Chief Financial Officer. During Jim's leadership, Atlanta grew from $14 million in operating revenue to $85 million and their assets grew from $24 million to almost $300 million.
Before joining the Atlanta YMCA, Jim held financial leadership positions at Price Waterhouse, Chatham Properties, Brown & Root and Caterpillar Corporation―all of which have annual revenue in excess of $1 billion.
A strong believer in community service, Jim is a member of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Foundation and an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Rotary International and other organizations that provide housing in developing countries. He has participated in housing projects in Belize, Honduras, Haiti and Jamaica. He has been active in civic matters within the state of Georgia, serving on the Governor's task force for community development, and chairman of the Planning and Zoning Committee in his hometown.
Jim earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, and has done graduate work at the University of South Carolina. He also has completed executive training programs at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and Texas A&M University.
