Is it right for me?

Take this simple self-assessment survey of your unemployment activity to find out if 501(c) Agencies Trust can improve your current system.

Does your nonprofit agency employ ten or more employees?

If your agency has more than ten employees, you are eligible for Trust membership.

Is your gross annual payroll at least $500,000?

If your agency has a gross annual payroll of at least $500,000, you are eligible for Trust membership.

Do you currently pay state unemployment insurance (SUI) taxes to the state?

You don’t have to. Federal law permits 501(c)(3) organizations to opt out of state unemployment tax programs and just reimburse the state for claims paid out.

Does your organization have relatively low unemployment?

Generally, nonprofits that have relatively stable workforce end up paying much more in taxes than if they just paid for the claims. Becoming a reimbursing employer with the JAT would make financial sense.

Could your organization use expert advice on personnel and unemployment issues?

Trust membership includes HR support and Claims Management. Your staff will have professional resources to help solve most personnel issues and help you protest inappropriate unemployment claims and audit overpayments by the state.
