Quits can cost you money

Changes in employment that may constitute good cause for leaving

  • Reduction in wages.
  • Violations of wage and hour laws, e.g. denial of a lunch break without a written waiver from the Department of Labor.
  • Demotion or loss of responsibility.
  • Transfer to a different work location, which leads to employee hardship. (unless employee knew transfers would be required for position).
  • Change or reduction in work hours.
  • Change in job duties causing a loss of skill.

NOTE: Good cause for quitiing in the above cases may not exist if an employee accepts the changes for a significant period of time.
